About Junagadh City

Junagadh is a town, a municipality and district headquarter in the state of Gujarat, India. This city is located on the lower part of Girnar hills. Inscriptions of Ashoka

Inscriptions inscribed by Emperor Ashoka can be seen on the way to Girnar. These inscriptions are engraved on large stones. Ashoka put together fourteen inscriptions. Upperkot Fort

It is believed that the fort was built by the Yadavas coming to Dwarka (which belonged to Lord Krishna). The uppercot walls are up to 20 meters in some places. The carved carpet is still in safe condition. In this fort many interesting and scenic objects have two gunas on the western wall. The name of these guns is Neelam and Kandal. These guns were built in Egypt. There are Buddhist caves around 200 AD to 200 AD all around this fort.

Wildlife Sanctuary was built in 1969 in the forest of Gir and after 6 years it was expanded to 140.4 sq. Km. And it was established as a national park. This reservoir has now expanded to about 258.71 square kilometers. The number of lions has now increased to 312 with the effort to provide wildlife protection.

In addition to dried trees and prickly shrubs, the forest of the Gir forest, rich in lush trees, is situated on the bank of the river. The main trees are Sagawan, Shisham, Acacia, Berr, Jamun, Beel etc.

Buddhist caves have been made by cutting the rocks. Adi-Kadi Wave and Navghan Kuan

Adi-Kadi Wave and Navghan Kuan were built by Chudasama Rajputs. The structure of these wells is quite different from the common wells. Its different kind of structure was used for water collection. These two wells could have completed the shortage of water for two years during the war. To reach the peak, it has to descend 120 down, while the navigational well is in the depth of 52 meters. Spherical stairs have been made to reach these wells.

Temple of Ambe Mata

The temple of Ambe Mata is situated on the top of the mountain. Here, newly married couples come to take Mother's blessings to make their marital life happy after marriage.

In the memory of 9th Jain Tirthankara Mallinath, in the year 1177 AD, two brothers constructed this trimandir. At the time of festivals, this temple is a favorite place for saints. A big fair is organized here on the Kartik Purnima of November-December month.
